FLUTE KIT

Flute Pad Saver

The job of the pad saver is to wick moisture away from the pads and thereby create a less attractive environment for dirt and grime to build up. The flute pad saver appears like a large pipe cleaner that has highly absorbent micro bristles that, when left inside the flute after playing, will pull in any saliva/spit that has been blown into the instrument. It is important to make sure your pad saver is cleaned regularly (by hand) to prevent dirt and grime from being reintroduced to the instrument.

Silver Polish Cloth

The silver plating on a flute must be maintained by wiping down any fingerprints each time after the instrument is done being played. The gray side of the cloth is untreated and is the side that the player will handle. The white side of the cloth is treated with a light polishing compound that will appear black after removing tarnish from the plating. Please DO NOT wash this cloth thinking it is dirty. Washing the silver polish cloth will make it less effective or perhaps ineffective altogether. A silver polish cloth can be used continuously for many months without needing replacement so long as it is used correctly.

Please note that there is no oil supplied in maintenance kits for flutes. Any oils should only be applied by a professional technician.
